SB 952: State Water Project: renewable energy resources and zero-carbon resources.
The state aims to supply 90% of electricity to end-use customers by 2035, 95% by 2040, and 100% by 2045, and 100% to state agencies by 2035. The department of water resources must procure eligible renewable energy resources and zero-carbon resources to meet these obligations. In conducting procurement, the department must consider portfolio diversity, resource type, location, and hours of typical peak operation. Excess procurement of eligible renewable energy resources and zero-carbon resources can be applied to subsequent years' obligations starting from January 1, 2036.
