SB 992: County auditors: special districts: annual audit exceptions.

California · Senate · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified August 20, 2026

What SB 992 does, verified August 20, 2026

This bill amends an existing law that requires a county auditor to conduct an annual audit of the accounts and records of every special district within the county. The law currently allows special districts to opt out of the audit if their annual revenues do not exceed $150,000. The bill increases the revenue cap to $250,000, effectively removing the current limit and allowing the audit to be required for special districts with higher revenues.
