What A 34 does, verified December 16, 2025

The bill aims to exempt ambulances and fire vehicles from paying tolls on the New York State Thruway when engaged in emergency operations. The authority is authorized to issue emergency services permits, which allow ambulances and fire vehicles to travel at no charge between interchanges and barriers during emergency operations. The permits would also provide refunds for tolls incurred during emergency operations, pending the completion of an application. The authority would establish rules and regulations for the issuance of permits, including acceptable documentation to prove an emergency operation. The bill takes effect immediately.
