A 4804: Requires the office of renewable energy siting to develop standards and conditions for the siting of certain large scale renewable energy systems; requires approval of municipalities to such siting plans.
The bill aims to amend the Public Service Law to require the Office of Renewable Energy Siting to develop standards and conditions for the siting of certain large-scale renewable energy systems. These standards will prioritize avoiding, minimizing, or mitigating potential significant adverse impacts to land within the Hudson River watershed area, particularly in agricultural or conservation districts, or areas with mineral soil groups 1-4. The bill also introduces a new requirement that municipalities with jurisdiction over potential build-ready sites for qualified energy storage systems must provide approval before a site is deemed suitable for such systems. The amendments will take effect immediately, except for the repeal of article 8 of the Public Service Law, which will be deemed repealed along with the amendments.
