What A 6796 does, verified April 29, 2026

The bill aims to prohibit the elimination of building systems or equipment used for the combustion of fossil fuels in new building construction. This means that new buildings in the state will not be required to replace existing systems with more environmentally friendly alternatives. The bill applies to both new and existing building construction, including renovations and replacements of existing systems. This change will allow building owners to continue using fossil fuel-based systems, while also considering future upgrades to more sustainable options.
