AB 1096: Water: schoolsites: lead testing.
The bill requires community water systems to compile information about outreach attempts to elementary schools and childcare facilities for lead sampling, including reasons for declining testing. Schools and childcare facilities that decline testing will be allowed to select from a list of reasons, unless exempted by federal waiver. The compiled information will be submitted to the state board, which must make it publicly available online by June 30, 2028. Community water systems must also include a statement about the available information in their annual consumer confidence reports, starting December 31, 2028.
