AB 1177: California Prompt Payment Act: late payment penalties.
What AB 1177 does, verified December 6, 2025
The bill would amend the government code to change the payment approval date for state agencies. If a business under a contract with the department would become subject to late payment penalties during the peak fire protection staffing period, as determined by the director, the payment approval date would be extended by 30 calendar days. This extension applies to businesses that are not certified small businesses, nonprofits, or nonprofit public benefit corporations.
