AB 136: Courts.
This bill repeals certain provisions related to juror compensation and pilot programs, and makes revisions to references to the administrative office of the courts. It requires the judicial council to annually report on operational and budgetary metrics for trial courts, including backlogs and staff vacancies. The bill also authorizes the judicial council to sell additional courthouses and to collect and maintain statistics on the compliance of trial courts with standards of timely disposition. Additionally, the bill deletes requirements for the judicial council to adopt and report on judicial administration standards and to present an annual report on the use of a state trial court improvement and modernization fund. The bill also appropriates $4,690,000 from the general fund to the state court facilities construction fund for a one-time backfill.
