AB 1462: Public postsecondary education: community colleges: baccalaureate degree program: Allan Hancock College.

This bill would allow the board of governors to approve a baccalaureate degree program at a community college without a written agreement between the objecting segment and the chancellor if the board determines the program meets certain requirements. These requirements include the program being offered in a subject area with unmet workforce needs, not duplicating existing programs, and having the necessary expertise and resources to offer a quality degree. The bill also makes legislative findings and declarations regarding the necessity of a special statute for the community college.
