AB 1590: California Career Technical Education Incentive Grant Program: revised allocation formula.
This bill aims to revise the allocation formula for the California Career Technical Education Incentive Grant Program. The existing program provides $300,000,000 annually to encourage and strengthen high-quality career technical education programs. The current allocation formula may leave unallocated funds, which this bill seeks to address. To achieve this, the superintendent of public instruction will determine a revised allocation formula that ensures all funds are fully allocated to program applicants in the same fiscal year. This revised formula will be determined in consultation with the executive director of the state board and will take effect for allocations commencing no later than the 2027-28 fiscal year.
