AB 2055: Vessels: operation: registration.

This bill amends certain sections of the California law to expand the definition of a "for-hire vessel" to include any vessel propelled by machinery carrying one or more passengers for hire. This change would impose a state-mandated local program. The bill also adds a requirement for vessels to display a ski flag when towing a skier and a swimmer is present, making failure to do so an infraction punishable by a fine not exceeding $15. Additionally, the bill requires every vessel using California waters to be registered with the Department, to the extent permissible under federal law, imposing a state-mandated local program.
