SB 703: Ports: truck drivers.

This bill would add new requirements to the harbors and navigation code and the labor code. It would require trucking companies to provide certain information to ports, such as the port of Long Beach or the port of Los Angeles, including sworn affirmations that they are withholding taxes from employees. The bill would also require ports to publish information about each truck that entered the port on a quarterly basis. A port would be required to provide additional information to the labor commissioner upon request. Failure to comply with these requirements would result in civil penalties. The bill would also make it a crime to provide false or misleading information for the purpose of representing compliance with these requirements.
