AB 2165: Triggering event: loss of minimum essential coverage.
The bill aims to amend health and safety code and insurance code sections to provide coverage for individuals who lose minimum essential coverage due to a joint agreement between health care service plans or health insurers in a medically underserved area. A written or electronic notice must be provided at least 60 days prior to the expiration, dissolution, or termination of the joint agreement, indicating that it may constitute a loss of minimum essential coverage. This provision would prevent a willful violation of the law and impose a state-mandated local program.
