What AB 2229 does, verified May 16, 2026

This bill aims to increase the reenrollment rates of students who have withdrawn from the California State University system before completing their degree. The chancellor must adopt a policy prioritizing enrollment funding for campuses that meet enrollment figures and reach out to former students. By July 1, 2027, each campus must designate a noncontinuous student advisor and provide priority registration to returning students. The trustees must evaluate transcripts of noncontinuous students who wish to reenroll and maintain an internet-accessible data dashboard with enrollment information by September 1, 2028.
