AB 2492: Public safety: mega sporting events.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified May 16, 2026

What AB 2492 does, verified May 16, 2026

This bill requires the Office of Emergency Services to prepare for and manage safety and security at certain mega sporting events or official watch parties in collaboration with host counties and relevant parties. The Office must enter into a memorandum of understanding with the host counties by January 1, 2027, to implement these provisions. The bill repeals these provisions on January 1, 2030. The bill also makes legislative findings and declarations about the necessity of a special statute for the host counties. If the commission determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for those costs will be made according to state law.
