What AB 2628 does, verified February 24, 2026
The bill aims to make nonsubstantive changes to the retirement benefits provided to county fire service personnel. Currently, a person retiring for service receives a pension payable in equal monthly installments during their lifetime, equal to one-half of their terminal salary, not to exceed $250 a month. The bill will make these changes without introducing any new or significant alterations to the existing provision.
