California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 7, 2025

What AB 339 does, verified December 7, 2025

This bill requires local public agencies to give recognized employee organizations at least 45 days' written notice before issuing a request for proposals, request for quotes, or renewing an existing contract to perform services within the scope of work of job classifications represented by the organization. The notice must include information on the anticipated duration of the contract. In cases of emergency or other exigent circumstances, the agency must provide as much advance notice as is practicable. The bill also prohibits reimbursement for costs mandated by the state, but allows local agencies and school districts to pursue available remedies to seek reimbursement.
