AB 406: Employment: unlawful discrimination: victims of violence.

The bill aims to reinstate certain labor code provisions that were repealed in 2025. These provisions relate to employees who are victims of violence and allow them to take time off work without advance notice. The bill would restore these provisions to apply only to actions or inactions occurring before December 31, 2024. Additionally, the bill would transfer enforcement authority for two discrimination provisions related to attending judicial proceedings to the civil rights department. The bill would also make other conforming changes to ensure a smooth transition. The law would take effect immediately.
