This bill amends the vehicle code to allow authorized emergency vehicles to include vehicles owned by county, city, or city and county office of emergency services. The commissioner of the highway patrol can issue an emergency vehicle permit for these vehicles if they are used by public employees responding to disasters. The permit is only valid while the vehicle is being used for disaster response purposes.
