AB 463: Emergency medical services: dogs and cats.

The bill allows private ambulance owners or those operating ambulances owned or operated by a federally recognized Indian tribe to transport injured police canines or search and rescue dogs to a veterinary clinic or similar facility without another person requiring medical attention. The ambulance operator must develop policies regarding the transport of these dogs and submit them to and obtain approval from the local emergency medical services agency. The bill also authorizes emergency responders to provide basic first aid to injured police canines or search and rescue dogs while they are being transported to a veterinary clinic or similar facility, and exempts them from civil or criminal liability if they act in good faith and not for compensation.
