AB 542: Continuation schools and classes: youth workforce development programs.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 6, 2025

What AB 542 does, verified December 6, 2025

The governing board of a school district can offer youth workforce development programs to pupils on one or two weekdays per school week. These programs are allowed if pupils are enrolled in at least 15 hours of class attendance per school week. The school district must establish procedures to track pupil attendance and participation in the program. This change is intended to provide pupils with additional opportunities for education and workforce development.
