AB 600: Pupil instruction: transgender concepts: opt out.
This bill requires schools to include a study of the role and contributions of people of all genders, native americans, african americans, latino americans, asian americans, pacific islanders, european americans, lgbtq+ americans, persons with disabilities, and other ethnic, cultural, religious, and socioeconomic status groups in their curriculum. However, if a parent or guardian objects to the discussion of transgender concepts, the student can be excused from participating. Schools must provide an alternative activity for excused students. If a student's rights are violated, they can sue the school or district for damages. The state will reimburse local agencies and school districts for costs mandated by the bill.
