AB 624: Office of Emergency Services: federal grant funding; Community Relief Act.
The bill aims to provide financial assistance to local agencies, tribal governments, community-based organizations, and individuals for disaster-related costs. The Office of Emergency Services (OES) will be required to allocate funds from a new grant program, subject to specified conditions, to meet the cost of expenses for disaster response activities. The OES will also be required to provide the maximum local share of federal grant funding to local operational areas and urban areas. Additionally, the OES will be authorized to retain up to 3% of federal grant funding for administrative purposes. The bill also establishes a new community relief act to govern the administration of the grant program and make an appropriation for increased expenditure of moneys from a continuously appropriated fund.
