AB 727: Pupil and student safety: identification cards.

This law requires public schools serving grades 7-12 to have pupil identification cards printed with the 988 suicide and crisis lifeline number. Public institutions of higher education must have student identification cards printed with the national suicide prevention lifeline number on both sides. Starting July 1, 2026, schools will also need to add the telephone number and text line for a specified LGBTQ+ suicide hotline to their identification cards.
