AB 857: School employees: cultural competency training.

This bill requires the state department of education to develop an online cultural competency training platform and curriculum for school employees. The training must be completed by all school employees by the 2031-32 school year, unless they are exempt or have completed similar training elsewhere. Local educational agencies must provide a proof of completion and ensure employees complete the training during paid time. The department will monitor compliance and report data to the legislature. Reimbursement for mandated costs will be made if the commission on state mandates determines the bill contains such costs.
