AB 951: Health care coverage: behavioral diagnoses.
This act aims to amend laws related to health care coverage. It prohibits health care service plans and insurance policies from requiring enrollees or insured previously diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorder or autism to receive a rediagnosis to maintain coverage for behavioral health treatment. A treatment plan must be made available to the plan or insurer upon request. A willful violation of this provision is considered a crime, resulting in a state-mandated local program. The state will not be required to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs associated with this act.
