What SB 1060 does, verified April 7, 2026

This bill adds a new section to the health and safety code. It requires facilities that provide residential nonmedical services to adults recovering from alcohol, drug, or alcohol and drug misuse or abuse to be at least 1,000 feet away from public or private elementary or secondary schools or daycare centers if they serve more than 6 residents. The goal is to protect children and young people from the potential negative effects of such facilities. The bill takes effect immediately to address a pressing issue.
