SB 1101: Postsecondary education: sharing personal information: notice.
This bill requires postsecondary education institutions in California to notify faculty, staff, and students if their personal information is shared with the US Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights. The notification must describe the specific types of personal information shared. Institutions can only share personal information with the Office for Civil Rights if it is required by federal or state law. The bill also requires reimbursement to local agencies and school districts if the commission determines that the bill contains mandated state costs.
