SB 244: Public postsecondary education: disabled student services: assessments.
The bill aims to improve services for students with disabilities in public postsecondary education. It requires institutions to cover the costs of diagnostic assessments for learning disabilities as proof for academic accommodations for students who receive financial aid or are eligible for institutional health or disability services. The costs of these services will be covered by state funds, and institutions will be responsible for documenting their costs to the state aid commission. The commission will oversee reimbursements to institutions for their documented costs. Institutions must also post on their website that they will cover the costs of diagnostic assessments for such students.
