This bill would allow vehicle dealers to charge a document processing fee that exceeds the current limits, as long as it does not exceed 1% of the vehicle's total price or $260. The fee would be subject to certain requirements, including transparency and disclosure to the consumer. The bill would also exempt the sale of vehicles to the state of California and any local governmental entity from these provisions. Additionally, the bill would make a conforming change to existing law.
