AB 1873: County of Ventura: fire suppression: backup energy source.

The bill aims to improve fire suppression infrastructure in the county of Ventura by requiring a backup energy source to be available for at least 24 hours during high or very high fire hazard severity zones. A water supplier must have access to a backup energy source that can provide power within a certain timeframe after a loss of power, or notify the emergency services office as soon as practically possible if it cannot. The bill also requires a water supplier to include information about the backup energy source and the time critical infrastructure experienced a loss of power in the report made by the county fire department. Additionally, the bill establishes an emergency preparedness plan for response to red flag warnings, extreme weather events, and other major power outages or emergencies by July 1, 2027.
