AB 2453: Vehicles: off-highway motor vehicles.
This bill would expand the existing law to allow first responders to operate off-highway motor vehicles in emergency response situations. It would also enable peace officers and first responders to drive off-highway vehicles on highways for up to 5 miles to access off-highway recreational areas or patrol locations within jurisdictions that have adopted a policy or plan. A local authority would be required to adopt a policy or plan for the operation of these vehicles, which would be made public and include requirements such as only operating on highways for up to 5 miles for official duties.
