AB 2540: Public health: public postsecondary education: student health centers: abortion by medication techniques.

The bill requires public postsecondary education institutions to provide abortion by medication techniques in their student health centers. Student health centers at California state universities and universities of California must offer these services by January 1, 2028, and promote awareness of them among students. These institutions must also provide information about the services to students and post their availability on their websites. Community colleges with student health centers will be required to offer these services if appropriated by the legislature, with the same requirements as state universities and universities of California. The commission on the status of women and girls will be responsible for submitting a report to the legislature by January 1, 2029, detailing information about abortion by medication techniques at community college student health centers.
