This bill would amend the vehicle code to allow a peace officer to impound a vehicle if it is used in the presence of the officer to commit a specified offense, such as a motor vehicle speed contest or exhibition of speed. The offense of driving a vehicle on a highway at a speed greater than 100 miles per hour would be added to the list of offenses for which a vehicle can be impounded.
