The bill aims to improve student eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by expanding its coverage to include students enrolled in public institutions of higher education. Currently, students enrolled in college at least half-time are not eligible for SNAP benefits unless they meet specific exemptions.
